Appel de Genève/Geneva Call is looking for a “Director Support Services.”
In situations of armed conflict, Geneva Call, as a neutral, impartial and independent international humanitarian organization, endeavors to strengthen the respect of humanitarian norms and principles by armed non-State actors, in order to improve the protection of civilians. Appel de Genève/Geneva Call is a private, not-for-profit, humanitarian organization foundation under Swiss law, founded in 2000.
The Director Support Services manages all transversal support units at Geneva Call. He/She reports directly to the Director General. All heads of units of the department report to him/her. She/he covers communication & fundraising, finances, and human resources.
· Be part of the Directorate with Director General and Director of Operations and participate in the meetings of the Board of Trustees.
· Contribute to the definition of the overall Geneva Call’s strategies and operational plans, related budget and action plans.
· Anticipate and forecast Geneva Call’s financial and structural development and needs with the Director of Operations and the Director General.
· Lead the 3 units of the External relations & Support Department (15 employees, 3 heads of unit in direct line – operating budget: CHF 2.5 million):
o Human Resources
o Communication and fundraising
Organize the department accordingly with regard to structural, financial and Human Resources needs.
Define the objectives and action plans of the Department.
Ensure the implementation of the plans, monitoring, performance measurement and evaluation of the various units of the Department.
Oversee the Human Resources Management System, staff recruiting, hiring, training, appraisal and staff development processes
Ensure a sound administrative and financial management of the foundation
Ensure the implementation and evolution of the Internal Control System, development and monitoring of the implementation of related policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with internal rules and regulations across the organization
Monitor and control the budgetary and financial balances
Define the axes of positioning and external communication (international political scene, federal and cantonal institutions, press and other media), development of institutional partnerships
Define with the Director General the fundraising strategy, diversification and increase of funding sources
Supervise, together with the Director General, all fundraising and external relations efforts
Ensure proper information is relayed back to the Director General on the state of development, programme implementation, evaluation and financial indicators
Ensure that there is a fluid and smooth relationship between all support units and the Department of Operations.
10-year experience in similar position.
Excellent knowledge of financial management and internal control system
Excellent knowledge of humanitarian funding practices
Strong project management skills
Strong managerial skills and leadership
Unique abilities to communicate clearly.
Ability to plan and forecast effectively.
Good knowledge of Swiss legal frameworks for private foundations.
Strong experience in managing state and private donors for humanitarian organizations.
In-depth understanding of the political landscape in which a humanitarian private foundation has to operate.
English native speaker level, French proficient user level and any other languages is a plus.

CDI (open-ended) contract, based in Geneva.
