I – Objectives

Geneva Call seeks to set up a framework contract with one or several consultants (individual or company) able to support the organization in providing graphic design and production of illustrations to support its messaging and communications efforts globally.

Selected applicants will be qualified as pre-agreed suppliers of the organization within a framework contract of an initial duration of two years starting from January 2023. Pre-agreed suppliers can be contracted upon demand for specific mandates, the scope, and deliverables of which will be defined on a case-by-case basis.

II – Main tasks and responsibilities

The provider should be able to reflect Geneva Call’s identity, mission and activities across a variety of communication outputs and media including publications, training materials, articles and reports. Each product will need to be adapted to convey the message in an efficient manner with a modern and attractive design and/or creative illustration. Geneva Call’s visual identity, including its corporate colours, fonts and style should be strictly respected.

The types of graphic design layout required may include:

  • A5 leaflets with approximately 4 pages and their adaptation to different languages
  • A6 booklets with drawings and their adaptation to different languages
  • A1 and A3 posters
  • Annual Reports in A4 format and with approximately 50 pages
  • Brochures and other publications in A4 and A5 format
  • Business cards and ID-type employee cards
  • Possible development of infographics or other visual elements to display data
  • Creation of illustrations and animations for training materials and for communication purposes
  • Any other documents upon request

Illustrations needs may include:

  • Creating appealing covers or drawings or any other visual depicting complex action in conflict situations in a pedagogic and accessible manner.
  • Creating event, policy or advocacy visuals.
  • Creating impactful humanitarian awareness messages for members of armed groups or de facto authorities, local civil society or communities.

III – Tender Requirements

Applicants are requested to submit an offer including the following documents:

  • A short description (max 2 pages) of the applicant’s overall profile, professional qualifications, and motivation to provide the services described above.

A list of at least 5 samples of content (design and illustrations) produced in the last 3 years demonstrating the quality and diversity of the formats covered. Samples of content related to global humanitarian affairs are an asset.

  • A financial offer including an all-included (incl. VAT) daily rate in CHF.

A copy of any relevant registration document attesting the applicant’s legal nature as an independent contractor.

Please note that applications not fulfilling the above formal requirements will not be considered.

IV – Required skills and competencies

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in graphic design, illustration and animation.

Ability to respect the visual identity and develop materials with the same style as pre-existing one.

  • Creativity and ability to suggest new products or designs.

Capacity to deliver high-quality work under time constraints.

  • Previous experience working for NGOs.

High level of reliability, discretion, and confidentiality.

  • Fluency in English and/or French.

Fully registered as an independent contractor.

V – Submission and selection process

Interested providers are requested to submit an offer following the criteria set above. Offers should be sent by email to gvialetto@genevacall.org by the 31st of October with the following subject: CALL FOR TENDER – GRAPHIC DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION.

Geneva Call will review all bids and will assign a score based on predefined criteria. Interviews will be carried out with a shortlist of maximum 3 applicants.

One (or several) contract(s) will be concluded with the bidders with the highest score and who represent the best overall value for Geneva Call.
