Partners

Recognizing the boundaries of its mandate and capacity, alongside the wealth of experience in the international sphere, Geneva Call is committed to partnering and collaborating with other actors for mutual benefit.

Partnerships with local, national or international organizations, the support of donors and of affected governments, the role of civil society, all heavily influence Geneva Call’s access to NSAs, the impact of Geneva Call’s dialogue with these NSAs, and the implementation and the monitoring of commitments. Consequently, in all its activities, Geneva Call seeks relevant partnerships with organizations that can complement or enhance its action. Some of Geneva Call’s current local, international, and academic partnerships are listed in the menu on the right of this page.

Geneva Call is often approached by civil society organizations, national and local governments, local populations, national and international NGOs, the humanitarian branches of NSAs, etc. with various requests concerning their needs and priorities that fall outside its specific mandate. In these situations Geneva Call does its utmost to mobilize its network and serve as a bridge between these actors and national or international actors with the appropriate experiences and capacities.

Participatory Approach

Geneva Call believes that it is important to involve partners, beneficiaries and target groups in the planning and implementing of activities to increase the understanding of their specific problems and needs, to support their capacity to address these problems and needs, and to monitor and adapt where necessary the implementation of the activities. This could happen in the following ways:

  1. Field mission for initial engagement: Geneva Call often conducts one or several field missions prior to commencement of the planning of the activities in order to engage the partners, target group(s) and beneficiaries on the project and seek their input and advice.
  2. Training needs analysis (TNA): In case of a training, a TNA is conducted in order to better understand the skills and knowledge gaps which a specific training should seek to address. The TNA can be conducted by Geneva Call and/or partners, possibly via email questionnaire.
  3. Creation of action plans with local or regional NGOs: During workshops or trainings participants are often invited to draw up action plans in coordination with local or regional NGOs and to create plans for further disseminating information among a target population.
  4. Post-workshop evaluation: Participants in the workshops or trainings are invited to evaluate the activities. This evaluation is fed into the overall programme review.
  5. Post-activity review and recommendations for future activities: Geneva Call firmly believes that stakeholders should be part of post-activity reviews and actively seeks the feedback of workshop or training participants.

Moreover, Geneva Call is committed to involve women as it involves men in the engagement process, with the aim of promoting their full participation and to respond to their specific needs. Geneva Call is committed to achieving gender equality, ensuring that the equal promotion and protection of the human rights of women, men, girls and boys guides its humanitarian work, in accordance with international humanitarian standards, and in collaboration with its partner organizations and donors.
