18-19 June 2009 - Geneva - Switzerland. Second Meeting of Signatories to Geneva Call’s "Deed of Commitment for Adherence to a Total Ban on Anti-Personnel (AP) Mines and for Cooperation in Mine Action". At the initiative of Geneva Call, this conference brought together 44 representatives from 28 different armed non-State actors, and internationally non-recognized or partially recognized States from approximately 25 countries around the world. The successes and challenges of implementing international humanitarian norms, in particular the landmine ban, and the protection of children and women in armed conflicts were discussed. The conference adopted two final declarations. The English language versions are:

9 June 2009 - Garowe - Puntland. More than 70 people were gathered in  a workshop on the implementation of the Geneva Call’s “Deed of  Commitment for Adherence to a Total Ban on Anti-Personnel Mines and  for Cooperation in Mine Action”. A is available online.

Organized in collaboration with the SPLM/A and its humanitarian demining agency Operation Save Innocent Lives (OSIL). The purpose of the workshop was to strategize ways and means to widely disseminate the SPLM/A ban policy throughout its rank and file and to the grass roots level, to promote greater adherence to the mine ban norm and understanding of the SPLM/A obligations under the Deed of Commitment.
